The day I meet the mother of Pulsars…the mother of what?
Well, if you haven’t heard of pulsars I don’t blame you, but pulsars have been there, up in the skies of our immense universe for quite some time. And it was Jocelyn Bell Burnell who discovered them. And I met this lady and had a nice chat with her not as long ago as she discovered them 🙂
Born in the beautiful Belfast, this radioastronomist was the person who found these pulsating stars. It was very contentious, because despite the fact she had discovered them, that year her teachers got the Nobel Prize, mentioning this discovery as part of their achievement…hmmm. Simply not fair. Here you can read more about this. The fact is that this woman has become extremely important in the advance of radio astronomy and meeting her made my heart beat like a pulsar!
